What about Mike?

When NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell banished Michael Vick from training camp on July 24, I had mixed emotions about the entire situation. It was obvious that he buckled under the pressure of the 48 and 50 people protests staged by PETA (nevermind the 200 put together by New Order in support of Vick); however, I felt his decision was in the best interest of the Atlanta Falcons simply because Flowery Branch would have been a three-ring circus. Not that it wasn’t already with that clown Jim Mora.

I want to know what the NFL Commissioner, Mr. King Ding-A-Ling Roger Goodell, plans to do with No. 7.

When the Falcons held a press conference to discuss the federal indictment brought against Vick, team owner Arthur Blank stated that as an organization, they planned to give Vick the maximum penalty which would have been four games. Goodell stepped in and told Blank to hold off on any suspension until the league completes its review of the situation.

It has been more than two weeks and nothing has come from this. Goodell has not suspended Vick or said that he can report. Vick just sits in limbo while Goodell hides under his desk and waits for all the bad to go away.

Well Mr. Goodell, you have set quite a precedent for yourself since taking over for Paul Tagliabue. You wanted to clean up the image of the league and discipline anyone that didn’t walk the line. You suspended Pacman Jones for the season following a string of incidents, but no convictions. Chris Henry was suspended for eight games after four arrests in a 14-month span and Tank Johnson for the same amount of time after spending 60 days in jail.

You were quick and stern with your punishment. You let the players, fans and sponsors know that the league was going to clean up its act. Now you are in a bind, once one of the leagues most marketable players and you have yet to make a decision.

You are doing an injustice to the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons organization, Michael Vick and most importantly the fans. Make your decision, I can imagine that it is a tough one but that is your job as the commissioner.

Here is your chance to really send a message. A superstar suspended. Make the call or are you afraid Vick could walk? You would be in some serious mess if that happened. Do what is best for the league.

Grow a pair and make a decision.

That is what my hard earned money that is pumped into your business pays you to do.

Oh yea, Chris Henry had six grabs for 86 yards and one touchdown last night.

A History of Mistrust

By: T. Love

In case you missed it, check out this article written by Mr. Wright Thompson.

It was a great piece of work and well written, but my problem is the source of where this is coming from. The root of all evil in the sports world today, that is a multibillion dollar Disney product that mixes clichés, quips, washed-up athletes, writers with over inflated egos and sprinkles in a little sports to produce the entity known as ESPN.

More like BSPN. If FSN can get Final Score up and running a little better or if CBS’ new acquisition CSTV can get going, then maybe someone can finally bury these clowns.

Since the Michael Vick case broke in late April, ESPN has had round the clock coverage which even includes a Vick sneeze update. Kelly Naqi has been assigned the “Vick Beat” similar to Pedro Gomez’ “Bonds Beat” and it has been nothing but splattering this man’s name all over television and the internet to make him seem like the most vile and heinous criminal ever to walk the face of the earth. If I was a casual onlooker, I would really think that Vick was in charge of running Hitler’s army.

Naqi’s “breakthrough” came in late May when she uncovered an “informant” that had information regarding the “secret” world of dog fighting. Well, like all of the sheep that this country has now, they followed the story and believed that this was a credible source. First, if this guy was so credible, why wasn’t he talking to Federal authorities? Second, his claims are BS because he said Vick was a “heavyweight” and bet in the 10G range. Well, read the indictment for yourself and come up with your own conclusion.

Since Vick was indicted in July, there should only be two reports. The first should have been when Vick was indicted. The second should have been when he went to his arraignment. The BS network got lucky and Tony Taylor snitched so that gave them one more thing to talk about.

It has been almost three weeks and the story has started to die, but what’s this? The network releases this piece trying to analyze the racial divide on this issue? Like my friend Jared says, “Stay in your lane”. ESPN should heed that advice and try getting back to reporting sports and do a decent job of it instead of being a tabloid. You are alienating the true sports fan. Your bogus claims, misinformation regarding players and last to know mantra are pathetic.

I know this issue is racially divided and it is sad but true. But maybe, just maybe the issue wouldn’t be so out blown out of proportion had the network stayed true to its roots of reporting sports and not been so focused on yellow journalism.

History of mistrust is a pretty appropriate title coming from the folks at Disney.

SCLC to honor Vick

By: T. Love

During a press conference at the SCLC’s 49th annual convention, president Charles Steele announced the organization would find a way to honor Michael Vick for his work in the community.

The AJShit posted this survey question alongside the article:

What do you think about the SCLC’s plan to honor Falcons player Michael Vick, who has been indicted on dogfighting charges?
A. They’re out of their mind
B. It’s time someone stood up for Vick; he’s been attacked too much
C. I do not care

Well, what is your answer? I chose B

Vick has been attacked too much in my opinion with his conviction in the media. I understand that dog fighting is horrible and the indictment sounded so scary, but the truth of the matter is no one is really sure if all that stuff went on. If it did, Vick will get everything that is coming to him. So let’s just chill out. Does Michael Vick dog fighting affect your day-to-day life? Not mine.

It is some juvenile and dismissive tactics the AJC is using here. Why would one of the possible responses be, “Are they out of their mind?”. So let me get this straight, if an organization doesn’t rush to judgment of Vick and wants to recognize him for his many good deeds, they are out of their mind? I guess as a society, when someone does wrong in our eyes, it is right to just pile up on them. People aren’t allowed to support someone until they get their due process? Even if he gets convicted, if the SCLC wants to still honor him for his good deeds, that is their business.

Would anyone know that the SCLC was going to honor Vick if it wasn’t reported? Nope. How many people even know what the SCLC is about? Just another tactic to keep a story going.

Oh yea, currently A is leading with 77.67% of the votes (10,046), 15.05% for B (1,947), C 7.28% (941). Since the AJC has been smoozing ESPN since this story broke, I know what Sunday mornings “Outside the Lines” will be about. Has the SCLC lost its way after honoring Michael Vick and then it will segue into how this is a race issue. Let’s watch the sheep follow ESPN as it continues to be the shepard.
