Vick ordered not to report to camp

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has told Michael Vick not to report to training camp in Flowery Branch when it opens this Thursday.

Vick is already scheduled to miss the first practice as his arraignment is set for the same day in Virginia.

In a letter, Goodell stated,“While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy.”

The league will review the current situation and has asked the Falcons not to move forward with any punishments of their own until the review is complete. The exile of Vick from training is just the first in a series of punishments that are coming.

As for Vick, today he obtained the services of Billy Martin, of Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan. Martin is not foreign to Atlanta profiles as he defended Mayor Bill Campbell. He has also represented Jayson Williams, Allen Iverson and Juwan Howard.
